Brief Editing Distraction

Had to take a break from editing this morning for this....... She really isn't into the whole photo session thing, so I try to snap my "mom" portraits of her in less than 5 minutes every few months or so as she will tolerate. Here we are today.... MHP9928 MHP9924

A Day in the Life..... | NH Photographers Blog Circle

It has been a while, but once again I am posting for the NH Photographers Blog Circle. You may have come to my blog via the amazing Meg Hamilton of Rodeo and Co Photography, or perhaps through facebook, twitter, or a friend. This month's theme is "a day in the life...". While I enjoy these posts, I rarely find myself enthused about telling my own story. I have trouble finding our small day to day events interesting or exciting. However, it is our life and we love it. So here goes nothing..... daylife1

As I prepare my first coffee of the day Emma comes out to greet me and show off her tooth fairy loot. She made out good this time, I guess the tooth fairy was unprepared for the event and didn't have any singles on her......

MHP0013 After Emma has cleared out her cereal bowl Bear decides to sneak up to the sink in case there was any milk left behind.... he was disappointed and not impressed at having been caught in the act. MHP0021

Emma has finished getting ready with time to spare so she sits down with her Valentine's Day gift from Aaron and I and dreams of the "good pulls" she might have when she opens them after school (Pokemon cards).
  daylife2

After Emma and Aaron head out for the day I begin to look around to see what this day off from work has left me with.... I guess the little corner mess isn't too bad, but my in-bedroom work space will require a good amount of ambition.

While I attempt to make sense of the bedroom Bear decides to supervise (which is code for nap wherever I happen to be doing something).

As lunch time approaches I head out to the kitchen and spot this guy admiring himself....

Lunchtime.... Egg, cheddar, and roma tomatoes on gluten free toast. Yummy! No really, it was delicious!

Behind me, Diesel warms his face in a ray of light.

After lunch I spot a friendly visitor on our deck, our landlord/neighbor's barn kitty Sylvester. He comes up now and then to say hello and then continues on with his rounds. Our cats aren't exactly friendly with him, but they have become accustomed to his visits and no longer mind that I do go out to give him a quick pat and say hello. Bear now knows that he isn't allowed inside and therefore is not a threat to his place as my number one little buddy-boy.
  daylife6

On my way to do the laundry I stop by to say hello to my husband and get a quick rundown of his schedule for the day.
  daylife8

Proof that I did in fact, do laundry.
  MHP0184

My mother is awesome and lets us do our laundry down at her house for various reasons and we could not be more grateful. While I am down there I snap a few shots, unlike at home, my mother's house is flooded with natural light during the day. (I have a few of those same little jars you see on the right thanks to my sister-in-law!).
  daylife3

My mother also has something in her house that I have decided (and hope I can stick to it) not to have in my house in a hopeful effort to kill any preoccupation with how I look), so I can't help but make sure I don't look too frumpy whenever I am there..... today, I am instead admiring myself with a Canon camera in front of my face, instead of the Nikons I have sported over the years. A big change, and though this first day of practice has been difficult, it is also incredible. I am having a blast and almost feel like I am starting over. New eyes.

Emma is back and has already returned to the world of Pokemon.
MHP0234She lets me steal her away for one quick practice shot outdoors and then it is back to cleaning/preparing for tomorrow for me (wedding), and playing for her. daylife4 daylife9

While they spend a little time together I am off to the rehearsal for tomorrow's wedding - a job and as well as a friend's wedding, I am attending the rehearsal so I can see the layout of the church and talk with the reverend about where and what is acceptable. Short of not blinding anyone, I have no restrictions. The world is my oyster. I was there to sit back and observe, but as a friend and a person in need of documentation of their day, I snapped a few photos.

A little brotherly love. Not only is the groom a family friend, but his brother is my husband's old roommate. Small world, small town, small life. We love it.

Thanks for seeing what a day in my life was like, be sure to head over to see what Lisa of Lisa Louise Photography posted and of course, remember to follow the full circle!

Sarah & Jim, Engaged | Meredith, NH

One of the best things about my slow season is the ability to edit most sessions with record speed. I get so excited. I met up with Sarah and Jim for their engagement session yesterday. YESTERDAY. And I am all finished! Enough about that..... I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah and Jim a few months ago when they approached me about photographing their sure-to-be-amazing winter wedding this coming December. I CANNOT wait. Hopefully at that time we will have at least a pretty covering of that fantastic white snow we all remember (remember when it used to SNOW in New Hampshire???). Originally we were hoping for some today and I even showed up in gaiters, boots, and snow pants just in case (the field at our house is still covered and I often shoot on the ground......). We had a little, but not too much. Cold weather however, was in abundance and Sarah and Jim were such troopers for dealing with my really lame sense of humor and awkwardness in the freezing cold. It was so nice to get to know them and get in a little practice in front of the camera before the big day. Thanks so much Sarah and Jim! I am so jazzed for December!
